AFFIRM ACTION ALERT!



The Senate bill has put immigrant advocates in a difficult situation. There are people of good conscience within AFFIRM that have differing opinions on whether to proceed with the senate bill. The AFFIRM CIR committee feels it is essential that we mobilize our members to improve the bill this week and then allow each organization to decide whether they support final passage of the legislation.

 

In accordance with AFFIRM’s principles for immigration reform, legislation must offer a path to U.S. citizenship, ensure family reunification, legalize future migration flows, protect the rights of workers, and ensure the protection of human rights, dignity and due process of immigrants.

Thank you for your commitment to call our senators today and every day while it considers up to 24 important amendments to its immigration bill this week. They continue to tell us that they are not hearing from pro-immigrant folks - your calls are very important as you represent the majority opinion that supports immigration reform as reflected in poll after poll.
